Cafe Kitsune x Youmin
mock collaboration
This project began with the question "What kind of promotion could emerge from a collaboration between Café Kitsuné and me as an artist?"
Café Kitsuné originates from the French fashion brand Maison Kitsuné, whose name comes from the Japanese word kitsuné, meaning fox. In Japanese mythology, the fox is known as a shape-shifting creature, clever, playful, and capable of moving freely between the forest and the village. Maison Kitsuné similarly resists a single definition. It operates simultaneously as a fashion brand, a music label, and a café, continuously shifting its form depending on context and medium. I saw this fluid identity as connected to the symbolic nature of the fox. In this sense, Café Kitsuné functions less as a place that simply sells coffee and more as an entry into the brand’s world.
Inspired by this idea, I imagined Café Kitsuné as a “fox’s house” and a space that connects everyday life with the brand’s universe, just as a fox moves between nature and the city. Using
Cinema 4D, I designed two versions of the café, one for summer and one for winter, creating an atmosphere that feels like a secret space where people are quietly invited in. To add a more personal layer, I overlaid the 3D scenes with frame-by-frame animated drawings.
